Congrats to four of our OAS athletes who all compe Congrats to four of our OAS athletes who all competed in the National U19 Basketball tournament over the weekend. The woman’s team came a very impressive 4th place with the men’s coming in at 10th. We hope the knowledge and experience in the academy translated to performance and learning while away. These two fantastic young females volunteer at Columba College helping coach an intermediate girls hockey team. It is fantastic to see you girls passing on your knowledge from the academy by helping the younger generation.

Very exciting news, 5 of our new OAS Year 1 athlet Very exciting news, 5 of our new OAS Year 1 athletes have been selected into their respective men’s and woman’s U18 Otago teams to compete in the National U18 hockey tournaments. This is a great achievement team. We have really enjoyed all of your hard work and input into the educational workshops and one on ones to support your busy lives and sport. Well done to current OAS athletes Gemma Rowcroft a Well done to current OAS athletes Gemma Rowcroft and Riley Piebenga, and former OAS athlete Demi, on their recent attendance at the Touch Asia Pacific Youth Cup. Special mention to Gemma who also played in the Open Trans Tasman as well as the youth cup. Super proud of you girls and your efforts in the academy to support your sport. Esme Paterson

When Esme isn’t training 9 times a week or studying at Otago University you can find her coaching for the JC Swim School. Esme is able to pass on knowledge gained through the OAS and her swimming experience to the youth in the Otago community.
