Downhill Mountain Biker Lui Arnold has had a very successful season. The Central Otago athlete competed in the Downhill Southern Series at the end of last year, during his 5 races Lui improved to finish in 2nd place overall in the U19 category, throughout the series Lui gained a 1st place and two 3rd place placings. His most recent success was during the New Zealand National 2020 season, at the end of his second round Lui had obtained 2nd place in his race by less the 0.5 seconds, and a 1st place that put him in the lead of the series. Unfortunately Lui crashed in the third race, injuring himself, and was no longer able to complete the series. However during his season, Lui also competed at the Oceania and National Championship races that were held in Dunedin earlier this year, Lui finished in 5th place in both events.

Quote from Lui ” The Academy has provided a better understanding of how to live a healthy lifestyle as an athlete, I have appreciated the guidance on how to balance my training, whilst maintaining work and a social life”.
