First year Academy athlete Maia Joseph has had a very successful 2019/2020 season in Touch Rugby. starting of the season with second place win with her school team the the NZSS Touch Nationals in December 2019. To then  captaining the u18 Otago Touch team to a first place win at the Junior Nationals in February. Earlier this year Maia captained the New Zealand U18 girls touch team in the Trans Tasman Series held in Newcastle Australia on the 24th – 26th January. Maia then went on to compete with the Otago  Open women’s touch team at the 2020 Open New Zealand Touch Nationals where the placed 3rd. As a result of Maia’s outstanding season she was selected to join the Otago’s rugby Pre – Academy program.
